This Privacy Policy explains how we process personal information when you use our website and CV services.

1. Information we process

Depending on how you use the service, we may process:

  • the CV and career information you submit;
  • information you enter or edit on the website;
  • CV scores, recommendations, reports and improved documents;
  • your email address and support correspondence;
  • payment confirmation and transaction information; and
  • limited technical and usage information required to operate, secure and understand the website.

Please avoid including identity numbers, banking details, medical information or other information that is unnecessary for your CV.

If your CV contains another person's information, such as a referee's contact details, you are responsible for ensuring that you are permitted to provide it.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • analyse, edit and improve your CV;
  • provide reports, downloads and paid services;
  • confirm payments;
  • respond to questions and support requests;
  • operate, secure and improve the website;
  • understand website usage and performance; and
  • comply with applicable legal, accounting and regulatory requirements.

Providing your information is voluntary. However, we may be unable to provide the requested service if you do not provide the information required to process your CV or purchase.

Automated technology may assist with analysing and improving CVs. The results are provided as guidance and should be checked before use. Fix My CV ZA does not make employment decisions or send your CV to employers.

3. Service providers

We may use trusted service providers for website hosting, document processing, payments, email delivery, analytics and security. They may process personal information only as necessary to provide services to us or as otherwise permitted by law.

Some providers may process information outside South Africa. Where this occurs, we take reasonably appropriate steps to ensure that the information receives suitable protection in accordance with POPIA.

We do not sell or rent your CV or personal information.

4. Retention and security

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, support users, maintain required transaction records, resolve disputes and comply with the law.

When personal information is no longer required or authorised to be retained, it will be deleted, destroyed or de-identified in accordance with our retention practices.

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access or disclosure. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security.

5. Cookies and website analytics

We and our service providers may use cookies or similar technologies to operate the website, maintain temporary sessions, understand how the website is used and measure performance.

The service is intended primarily for adults. Anyone under 18 should use the service only with the involvement and authorisation of a parent or legal guardian.
